Una buena novela llena de intriga

Hace un buen tiempo no le�a una novela en espa�ol que me mantuviera atento a lo largo de la misma. Los pecados de la familia Montejo logra adentrarte a la sociedad del Porfiriato al mismo tiempo que a la sociedad cat�lica mexicana, de la cual todav�a existen ideas vigentes (para ellos). La �nica contra que le veo es que avanza muy r�pido entre escenas, pero es comprensible debido a su tama�o.

I found this book extremely entertaining, Magical Realism at its best.
It also has an interesting perspective on Mexico's history during the leadership (dictatorship) of Porfirio Diaz; the good side and the not so good side. The prerevolutionary atmosphere of Mexico is vibrantly presented.
Beatriz Montejo, the matriarch who commits all kinds of horrible crimes, defending the 10 commandments, is also a fascinating personality.
I wish that this book would be translated and perhaps someone would even write a script on this story; it would make for a great movie,or at least for a very entertaining telenovela.

No quer�a parar de leer, me desvel� varias noches tratando de terminarla. Estaba obsecionada en que por fin se revelara la verdad. A pesar de ser ficci�n (en partes) me molesto la idea de saber que podr�a haber mujeres tan malvadas como Beatriz Montejo, igual y si existieron pero guardando su secreto ante la sociedad de la misma manera que Beatriz.
Gracias y recomendare esta novela principalmente a mi madre a quien le fascinan este tipo de historias.

The Perfect Companion Book to Trouble in Mudbug!

I loved Trouble in Mudbug, so I was excited when The Helena Diaries came out and they did not disappoint! Funny, irreverent humor that is a perfect companion piece to the first book..however, do not read it before Trouble in Mudbug or it won't make any sense at all. It is not a stand alone.
